PA-46 Performance Calculator

The PA-46 Performance Calculator runs the numbers straight from the POH charts for your Malibu, Mirage, Matrix, Meridian or M-Class: takeoff and landing distances, climb, cruise and descent. Enter your weight, the conditions and the runway, and it does the chart work for you.

It pulls live METAR and TAF weather for your departure and destination, checks whether the runway actually fits the numbers, and shows your departure climb gradient. Built by Texas Top Aviation for the owner-pilots we train, and free to use.

What the PA-46 performance calculator works out

Every number comes from the performance section of the POH for the model you choose:

  • Takeoff — ground roll and distance over 50 ft, with your weight, pressure altitude, temperature and wind
  • Climb — rate and time, fuel and distance to altitude
  • Cruise — power settings, true airspeed and fuel flow
  • Descent — time, fuel and distance down
  • Landing — ground roll and distance over 50 ft
  • Departure climb gradient — feet per nautical mile, to check against an obstacle departure procedure

Which Piper PA-46 models it covers

The calculator covers the PA-46 family flown by the owner-pilots we train: the Piper Malibu, Mirage, Matrix, Meridian and the M-Class aircraft. Choose your model and the calculator reads that aircraft’s charts, so a Meridian is not run against Mirage numbers.

Live weather and runway fit

Type in your departure and destination and the calculator fetches the current METAR and the TAF from the National Weather Service Aviation Weather Center. Density altitude, headwind and crosswind components come from real conditions rather than guesses. It then compares your takeoff and landing distances against the runway you picked, so a hot day at a short strip shows up before you load the airplane.

Questions pilots ask

Is the PA-46 Performance Calculator free?

Yes. It is free to use. You sign up once with your name and email, and after that it opens straight to the calculator on any device you use.

Which PA-46 models does it cover?

The Piper PA-46 line: the Malibu, Mirage, Matrix, Meridian and the M-Class aircraft. You pick your aircraft, and the calculator reads the performance charts for that model.

Where do the numbers come from?

They are read from the POH performance charts for your aircraft. The calculator does the chart interpolation that you would otherwise do by hand. It is a planning and training aid, so always confirm against the approved AFM/POH before you fly.

Does it use real weather?

Yes. It pulls the current METAR and the TAF for your departure and destination airports from the National Weather Service Aviation Weather Center, so your density altitude and wind components reflect actual conditions.

Will it tell me if the runway is long enough?

It checks your calculated takeoff and landing distances against the runway you select and shows your departure climb gradient, so you can see whether the numbers fit the runway you actually have.

Do I need to sign up again on my phone?

No. If you already signed up, use the "Already signed up on another device?" link and enter the same email, and it will let you straight in.

Training for the airplane you fly

The calculator came out of the type-specific training we do every week. If you want the same depth in the cockpit, we offer insurance-approved initial and recurrent training in your own aircraft: Piper Meridian / M500, Piper M600 / M700, Malibu, Mirage, Matrix and M350 and Piper JetProp.
