Fly-In Restaurants: A Hungry Pilot's Guide to U.S. Airport Diners

Nothing sharpens a cross-country like an empty stomach. This is a directory of restaurants you can fly to across the United States: on-field airport diners, restaurants you can walk to from the ramp, and places a crew car ride away. Every listing shows the runway, CTAF and fuel information you need to plan the flight, and the month it was last checked. Search by airport ID to see the fly-in restaurants nearest any airport, with distances in nautical miles. Published by Texas Top Aviation, because the best reason to own an airplane is to go somewhere with it.

TTA Picks: airport restaurants I have flown to

These are fly-in restaurants I have been to myself. They are the $100 hamburger and fly-in breakfast runs I recommend to students and owners.

How I build this list

Each entry starts from my own flying, a reader tip, or a published source. Nothing appears here until it has been verified, and each page shows the month of the last check. I check listings every month and mark restaurants that close. Airport data comes from FAA-derived public data. On-field means you can park and walk in from the ramp. Walkable means a short walk off the airport. Crew car means you will need the FBO’s car or a ride.

Fly-in restaurants: questions pilots ask

What is a fly-in restaurant?
A fly-in restaurant is one you can reach by flying into a nearby airport. Some are on the airport itself, so you park and walk in. Others are a short walk off the field, or a crew car ride into town. Pilots also call the trip a $100 hamburger run.
How do I find a restaurant at a specific airport?
Type the airport identifier into the search box, with or without the K (KCLL or CLL). If I have a restaurant at that airport you will see it. If I do not, you will get the 236 verified restaurants I do have, sorted by distance from that airport.
How current is this list?
Every listing shows the month it was last verified, and nothing appears here until it has been checked. I re-check listings monthly and mark restaurants that close rather than deleting the page.
How many states are covered?
I have verified fly-in restaurants in 45 states so far, and I add more as I check them.

An IFR course is available for owner-pilots who want real instrument proficiency. Texas Top Aviation is a PMOPA SEF Platinum Training Center.

Aircraft brokerage, piston through jet

On the sell side, aircraft sales covers pricing, marketing and closing. On the buy side, aircraft acquisitions covers the search, valuation, pre-buy inspection and closing, so the airplane you end up with is the one that fits the mission.

This fly-in restaurant directory is published by Texas Top Aviation because the best reason to own an airplane is to go somewhere with it. It began as a Texas list of airport diners worth the flight and grew nationwide, built airport by airport from state aviation directories, airport authorities and reports from pilots who have been there.
